Sleepy Puppies.

Knox is finally finally tugging like a fiend. He loves it now, and he's even into the tennis ball. I can't tell you how happy I am that he wants to tug now.

It was like one day he woke and said, "Hey, I think this would be cool! Let's try it!" and he did. He decided to grab my arm and started tugging. I quickly (it hurts when your arm is a tug toy) redirected him to a tug toy, and he hasn't stopped yet. I keep waiting for the shoe to drop and for him to decide, "Okay, this was fun, but I think I'll try something else" like Enzo did with fetching. We had one glorious day where she brought back everything I threw for her, she was having fun, I was having fun, but the next day when we went out the look I got was "You fetch it" and she hasn't done it since. She'll do it occasionally, just to prove she still can, but it never lasts.

I'm just glad he finally "turned on" and now we can really start working.

Week 11/52: These Are My Eyes

I edited this from my phone, which pixelated it pretty badly. :/ Oh well.

Week 10/52: Can We Be Friends?

We've skipped week 9, because my dogs, if they are doing something, get corrected immediately. I don't stop to take pictures :p ;)

Knox's Fifth Pivot Work Session

Been a minute

Since I last updated, but I've been without internet at my house for nearly a month and a half. It sucks, let me tell you, but it's been really good for making me actually get up and do things.

We did quite a bit of pivot work these last few weeks, but we've taken a break this past week as I've been working more. I think when we go back to it, he'll have gotten it down a bit better. He seems to be most proficient at latent learning, so I try to limit my sessions on teaching something new to under 15 minutes or so. He's very good at engaging with me, and wants to continue even after I'm ready to call it quits.

It's tightening up his heeling already, but I still don't have the super flashy competition heel I'm looking for. I've got motivation to get that ready by May, because we're entering a UKC show down in Perry, where I'm going to show him in Rally and Conformation hopefully. I haven't sent his UKC registration off as I'm trying to find some pictures of him that I can print out and send in with his registration for a single dog listing. I may try for a show in April with AKC for a CD and an AKC Rally title, if I can make up my mind.

But to do that, I need to build his toy drive, and I think I've found something he's willing and eager to fetch as well, but I'm not sure we'll be using it for more than drive building because I'm afraid he's going to swallow them. Because it's ping pong balls. What a weirdo.

He's been going just about every where with me, sleeping out of his crate at night at the foot of the bed (and sneaking up when Steven leaves) and doing just fine. He gets quite a lot of compliments in the Lowe's, and so far, no indoor marking issues (thankfully!) He's turning out extraordinarily nicely, and he's come a long long way since I got him five months ago as a nutterbean dog with no focus on anything but what he wanted to do.

I have a video of his heelwork I'll be posting in another blog post, for some reason blogger wants to put it at the top of the post instead of where I actually want it to go.
